Intresting how this video really points out the...well...pointlessness of using a finless board on bigger waves. There is no real gain in speed and Derek has to nurse everything he does. The burned guy (with three fins) has to slow down to avoid passing Derek. The only plus with the finless that I see is you can cruise out on the shoulder farther than you can with a finned board. If you like that Roy Stewart glide on the shoulder then going finless might be rewarding.

Little waves are a different story. Too each there own though. If it feels good...

Exactly Lee, it sort of looks like he's utterly riding the knife edge of loosing it completely and the other guy has so much more control. Still, it's epic how hard Derek's pushing it. I still like fins personally, but more power to him. As for that burn- well, either we're underestimating his J-Bay legend status or he knows the guy or something, because it is brutal.

I think Derek would mumble something about not being able to see out of that left eye and never knowing he was there...but then I never really understand much of what the Aussie's are mumbling on about anyway.
